Scott High School alumni came together again for their annual alumni weekend Aug. 9-11 spearheaded by Tyrone Cleveland, class of 1989 and John Glover, class of 1990. The weekend was an all-class reunion.
During the event that attracted several hundred Bulldogs back to Toledo, the class of 1968 held their 45th reunion.
Like the alumni weekend, the class of 1968 had a meet and great Friday and banquet on Saturday evening. Both events were held at the Ice Restaurant and Bar, 405 Madison. On Sunday, the members joined other classmates at the alumni picnic at Hydromatic Park on Jackman.
Jo Carol Hardison, class of 1968, said she was the event’s ‘West coast connection,’ because she resides in California, but helped organized the reunion.
Planning for the 45th reunion began immediately after their 41st.
“Some of the people that I’ve seen this weekend, I haven’t seen in 35 years,” she said. “I was so excited to see them. This weekend was well worth traveling from California.
“So many of us had close relationships in school and it would be sad if we couldn’t keep in touch with one another.”
Margaret Paraham, also an organizer for the reunion, said they wanted to center the reunion around the alumni weekend because it gives them an opportunity to see former classmates who didn’t graduate in the same year.
“It’s always good to see classmates you haven’t seen in years. It’s like a family reunion,” Paraham said.
Ed Mims, class of 1968, lives in Toledo but said he hasn’t seen some of his classmates in 20 years.
“It’s a good feeling seeing my classmates,” he said. “This weekend has been so festive, it’s almost like we’re not in Toledo.”
Paraham said they will plan their 50th reunion soon and if any of their classmates want to join in, reach her at email@example.com or 419-345-8703.
